Passing of a 51 year Friendship

I am sad to say that yesterday my mom's BFF of 51 years passed on into the summerlands.

At the age of 75 she had been battling with her health for many years and in the past several days that fight had been taken to the next level, but yesterday surrounded by her family she was allowed to pass on into the summerlands.

I know my mom will miss you, you where a second sister to her, rest in peace Margaret Schneider, she is survived by her daughter Susan and her two sons and their families.

TMI Tuesday #230

1. Have you ever broken something in someone's home unknown to them and never told them? If yes, explain. Not that I am aware of, its possible when I was younger that it happened, but if so I have no memory of it taking place.

2. What's one sexual guilty pleasure that you wouldn't openly tell your friends about? Why? I have no sexual guilty pleasure to talk about, so there is nothing that I couldn't openly talk about to any friend of mine.

3. Take a peek over any celebrity's shoulder in the bathroom...who are they and what are they reading? ::mind goes blank::

4. Roses are red, violets are blue...[finish this line with your own rhyme] My Husky is sweet and so are you!

5. Do you believe in ghosts or other supernatural activity? Why or why not? Yes I do believe in ghosts and other supernaturals, because to me there are more things out there then meets the eyes, thus to me anything is possible until proven beyond a shadow of a dough to be other wise.

Bonus (optional): How many times have you thought about sex in the last 24 hours? What triggered it? Who did it involve? Provide as much details as you like.  Yes I have and it was my hubby who triggered it and it was with my hubby. As to what it was or what was dun, all I'll say is that walking afterwards was an interesting adventure in and of itself. Not to mention I think I need to see the chiropractor!

Insulin Injection Points

I know that my Endro said that there was three points of injection that I could do to myself

Should/Upper Arm
Tummy/Side
Thy

Now I can’t reach my upper arm to give myself an injection, so that isn’t happening … when I tried a year ago to inject into my tummy/side area it was to freaking painful (wasn’t able to find a spot that didn’t scream at me when I tried), so this left me with using my thys to inject into.

What I am wondering is from other Diabetics who have to inject insulin where do you do it and do you notice a difference from where you do it in how your body makes use of the Insulin injected?

My endo said it didn’t make a difference – but just like other injections i’ve gotten it does make a difference where some things are injected into. As in muscle vs fat.

I’m wondering if the reason I need to take the 20 units of lantus is because I inject into my thy and not my tummy/side .. same goes with the 8 to 10 units of humalog that I now take with meals.

Oh well I know I’ve asked my endro about it and he still says it doesn’t matter – so it likely doesn’t but I do just wonder what other diabetics who inject have found for themselves, since I know oh so well what works for one doesn’t always work that way for another.

———
Well I think i found my answer on a diabetic site … Abdomen: fastest … Thigh and Arm: slower and Buttocks: slowest … article does say meal time shots work best in the tummy area (winces – ouch).

Well take care everyone!

ChildFree Humour

A lady about 8 months pregnant got on a bus. She noticed the man opposite her was smiling at her. She immediately moved to another seat.

This time the smile turned into a grin, so she moved again. The man seemed more amused.

When on the fourth move, the man burst out laughing, she complained to the driver and he had the man arrested.

The case came up in court. The judge asked the man (about 20 years old) what he had to say for himself.

The man replied, “Well your Honor, it was like this: When the lady got on the bus, I couldn’t help but notice her condition.

She sat under a sweets sign that said, “The Double Mint Twins are coming!” and I smiled.

Then she moved and sat under a sign that said, “Logan’s Liniment will reduce the swelling”, and I had to grin.

Then she placed herself under a deodorant sign that said, “William’s Big Stick Did the Trick”, and I could hardly contain myself.

BUT, your Honor, when she moved the fourth time and sat under a sign that said,
“Goodyear Rubber could have prevented this Accident”… I just lost it.”

The judge slams his mallet down, case dismissed.

French mother argues that having children ruins romance and relationships

———

READ ‘EM AND WEEP

Here are just 25 of Corinne Maier’s reasons not to have children (loosely translated from French by Antonia Zerbisias):

1. Childbirth is torture.

2. Parenting, the most fun ever – as if.

3. Commuting, work, brats – no thanks!

4. Hold onto your friends. Just try. Go ahead. I dare you.

5. Goo goo, ga, ga. Welcome to idiot-speak.

6. Children, the anti-aphrodisaic.

7. Kids, couple killers.

8. Just because everybody else is having babies doesn’t mean you have to.

9. You can’t afford kids anyway.

10. They’ll make you slaves to consumerism.

11. You’ll carry the burden you can never put down.

12. Your child is perfect? Don’t kid yourself.

13. Parenting above all else? Not on your life.

14. Fill your days with parenting experts and deplete your spirit.

15. If the family you were born into was dysfunctional, what makes you think you can do better?

16. Putting yourself first will get you condemned by society.

17. You may not be happy, but you will do everything you can to force your child to be.

18. Schools: prison camps with you as an accomplice.

19. To raise a child, but raise her for what?

20. Mush: this is your mind on motherhood.

21. Pass the Prozac and put on a happy face.

22. Motherhood: the black hole that traps women forever.

23. When children say “Hi,” Daddy goes “Bye.”

24. Suddenly, pedophiles and pornographers are lurking everywhere!

25. Every single rule of good parenting sucks.

Test your knowledge

Supersized portions are one reason for an increasing number of overweight Americans. Even if we don't clean our plate, we're still more likely to overeat, some research indicates.

What's normal? What's too big? The "Portion Distortion" quiz, from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, shows what a typical portion looked like 20 years ago, what it looks like today and how much physical activity it will take to burn off the extra calories.

Test your knowledge of the right-size serving with these questions. For more -- including fries, cookies, burgers, pizza, coffee and chicken Caesar salad -- go to http://hin.nhlbi.nih.gov/portion.

1. A turkey sandwich 20 years ago had 320 calories. How many calories do you think are in today's portion?
A. 820.
B. 510.
C. 630.

2. How long will you have to ride a bike in order to burn those extra calories?
A. 45 minutes.
B. One hour and 25 minutes.
C. Two hours and 15 minutes.

3. Chicken stir-fry was 435 calories 20 years ago (for a 2-cup portion). How many calories do you think are in today's common portion of chicken stir-fry?
A. 625.
B. 550.
C. 865.

4. How long will you have to do aerobic dance in order to burn the extra calories?
A. Three hours
B. One hour and five minutes
C. Two hours and 10 minutes

ANSWERS
1. A. Today's 10-inch turkey sandwich has 820 calories. This is 500 calories more than a portion 20 years ago.

2. B. If you ride a bike for 1 hour and 25 minutes, you will burn approximately 500 calories (based on a 160-pound person).

3. C. Chicken stir-fry is often 865 calories. Many restaurant entrees are large enough for two people. Share with a friend, or eat half and take the rest home.

4. B. If you do aerobic dance for 1 hour and 5 minutes, you will burn 430 calories (based on a 130-pound person).

MORE SUGGESTIONS FOR PROPER PORTIONS

Here are other suggestions for choosing the correct portion size.

Know what you're getting. Check a restaurant's Web site for nutrition information, or ask before ordering. Panera Bread and Ruby Tuesday are among a handful of fast-casual restaurants that provide nutrition information for all their offerings, not just the low-fat or low-carbohydrate ones. Most fast-food chains also provide nutrition information. Order wisely by studying your choices.

Doggy-bag it. If you're ordering at a restaurant, request that half your meal be placed in a takeout container before it's served to you, or do it yourself at the table before starting to eat, and save it for the next day's lunch.

Use visual cues. A serving of meat should be no bigger than a deck of cards; a portion of pasta, about the size of a tennis ball; an ounce of cheese (1 serving), about four dice.

Fill up on fruits and vegetables, especially vegetables. You'll get beneficial nutrients, antioxidants -- and a full stomach. Just make sure they're not covered in a calorie-rich sauce or salad dressing, or prepared with pork fat or lots of sugar, such as sweet potatoes with mini marshmallows.
